Frequently Asked Questions

What is the cost of an initial meeting?

There is no cost or obligation for an initial meeting.
Further, all costs are explained to your satisfaction prior to a commitment on your part.

Herweyer Financial is an independent firm. What exactly, does "independent" mean?

It means I do not have a big corporation insisting I sell their products or I am out of a job.
It means, within certain limits, I am free to find the best fit for my clients, whether it is investments or insurance.

What exactly is your company's logo and why did you pick that?

It is called a sextant.
It has been used by ship board navigators since about the 17th century.
Many financial firms use the compass as a part of their logo, indicating that they can help you by providing direction.
Knowing only the direction (for example which way is North) is of limited use without knowing your present location.
The sextant was used (at least until GPS was invented) to determine where the ship's location on the high seas. In conjunction with the compass it got mariners where they wanted to go.
Since my philosophy when helping my clients begins with determining where they are when we meet, the sextant seemed to be the right choice.

How do I determine if I need insurance?

That depends. Insurance is a method of moving a financial risk from you or your family to an insurance company. Ask yourself: Is there a substantial financial risk that I need an insurance company to assume?
If I were suddenly out of the picture tomorrow, would anyone (like a spouse or children) miss me financially? If the answer is yes, perhaps life insurance would be appropriate.
If I were sick or hurt and couldn't work tomorrow, how would the bills (for example, mortgage, utilities, groceries) get paid? Hong long would my savings and other streams of income last? Perhaps disability insurance would be something to consider.
If suddenly I was not able to care for myself for an extended period of time, how long would family and friends be able to care for me? How long would I want them to care for me? How else could care be provided? Maybe a long term care policy would be a good idea.

Please keep in mind that insurance companies alone determine insurability and some people may be deemed uninsurable because of health reasons, occupation, and lifestyle choices.

Guarantees are based on the claims paying ability of the issuing company.
