Medicare Help*

  • Have you recently turned 64 and are you getting bombarded with mail about Medicare?
  • Are you confused about all of your different options?
  • Did you know that there are enrollment windows that if missed, can result in extra costs later?
  • Would you like someone to explain your Medicare coverage options in clear, easy to understand language?
  • Would you like an experienced, local, independent licensed insurance agent to help?

Here are some benefits of using an experienced licensed insurance agent to help you:

  • Agents who represent Medicare plans are not allowed to charge you any kind of fee.
  • Agents who represent Medicare plans go through an annual training course that is directly related to the service they provide with regard to Medicare.
  • Agents who represent Medicare plans must re-qualify every year with each carrier.
  • Agents who represent Medicare plans can help you avoid costly mistakes.

If you would like help, please call me at 518-631-2569. I am a licensed insurance agent and can help you navigate your options.

Example of a costly Medicare enrollment mistake

John Smith* wanted a Medicare Supplement Plan.  He dialed an 800 number and got the plan he wanted.  While he was on the phone with the company, they asked if he needed prescription drug coverage.  He did, so they transferred him over to the portion of the company that handled such things.  The company had a $0 plan that seemed like a really good fit for him so he enrolled.  Unbeknownst to him, he had signed up for a Medicare Advantage Prescription Drug Plan (MAPD), when what he needed was a standalone drug plan (PDP).  There is a significant difference!

The effect this had was that the approximately $1300 in premiums he paid for the Medicare supplement plan did him no good, as a Medicare advantage plan does not work with a Medicare supplement plan.

The happy ending to the story was that after an independent licensed insurance agent (that's me) got involved, the situation was straightened out.  Not only did he get on the Medicare supplement plan that he wanted, and the stand-alone prescription drug plan that he wanted, I managed to get him a refund of the almost $1300 in premiums he paid for the supplement while it was not in effect.
